Meet Jennifer Sharkey, Owner of Dog Applaws

Hello, I'm Jennifer Sharkey, the proud owner of Dog Applaws. Animals and helping people have always been my two greatest passions, and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have found a career that combines both – pet sitting!

Growing up, I was surrounded by pets and viewed them as cherished members of my family. This philosophy guides the way I care for your furry companions. After college, I discovered that my heart truly belonged to animals. I pursued a two-year study of Reiki (energy healing) with the goal of providing comfort and relief to pets in pain. During this time, I worked at a doggie daycare and a pet store, gaining valuable experience and knowledge in animal care. In addition, I became a certified dog trainer, further expanding my skill set.

In 2016, I founded Dog Applaws, initially as a pet sitting service for my training clients. My dedication to animals extends beyond my work, as I am actively involved in volunteering for various chow rescues and have fostered approximately 20 chows and mixes since 2015. As a proud dog mom to my own chows, London and Ellie, I understand the bond between pets and their owners on a personal level.
